Ailyn

Privacy Policy

Ailyn is a cycle-syncing wellness companion. It reads some of the most personal information a phone holds — your cycle, your moods, the things you write down. This page explains exactly where all of it goes.

The short version

Who Ailyn is for, and what it is not

Ailyn is written for women who menstruate naturally — that is, whose cycle is not regulated by hormonal contraception. The pill, the implant, the injection and hormonal coils suppress or replace the hormone pattern the app's four phases describe, so on those methods the phases will not reflect what your body is doing. Ailyn asks about this during setup, and if you tell it your cycle is not your own to predict from, it marks its guidance approximate and keeps saying so.

Ailyn does not give medical advice. It is a wellness app, not a medical device. Nothing in it is a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or a substitute for a clinician — and it is not contraception, and must never be used to prevent or to plan a pregnancy. Its food and movement suggestions are general wellness information drawn from public health sources, which the app lists in full.

For anything about your own health — symptoms that worry you, medication, pregnancy, or a condition you are being treated for — please speak to a doctor or another qualified clinician.

What Ailyn stores, and where it keeps it

Everything Ailyn knows about you is created on your iPhone and stored there. That includes:

  • your cycle dates, cycle length and period length;
  • the moods you log;
  • everything you write — journal entries, gratitude notes, self-care notes and manifestations;
  • your settings, such as what Ailyn calls you and how you prefer to eat;
  • your display name, if you chose to sign in with Apple.

Your writing and cycle dates are also saved to your own iCloud account so they survive a lost phone and appear on your other devices. That storage belongs to you and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to it and no way to request it.

What leaves your phone

Ailyn contains no networking code of its own. It makes no requests to any server we run, because we do not run one. Data leaves your device only through Apple's own services, acting for you:

Sign in with Apple

Optional. If you use it, Apple gives Ailyn a display name so the app has something to call you. That name is stored in your device's Keychain. Ailyn never receives your email address, and the app works fully without signing in at all.

Your iCloud account

Your cycle dates and your writing sync between your own devices through iCloud. This is Apple's storage, tied to your Apple Account. Turning off iCloud for Ailyn in your device settings stops this; the app keeps working on the phone alone.

Dictation, if you use it

You can speak a journal entry instead of typing it. Ailyn asks Apple to transcribe it on the device wherever your language supports it. In languages where Apple provides no on-device model, the audio is transcribed by Apple's speech servers instead. That is Apple's service, not a third party's, and it happens only while you are actively dictating. If you would rather nothing be sent, type instead — every writing screen accepts the keyboard.

Apple Health

If you allow it, Ailyn reads your period history, sleep, workouts, steps, heart-rate variability, resting heart rate and logged moods from Apple Health, to work out where you are in your cycle and to show you your own numbers. It can also write period logs and mindful minutes back to Health, so your other apps stay in step.

All of this stays on your device. Ailyn never transmits Health data anywhere, and never uses it for advertising or profiling — nobody is advertising to you here at all. You can revoke Health access at any time in the Health app under Sharing, and Ailyn will keep working with the cycle dates you enter yourself.

The AI features

Ailyn's daily guidance, its affirmations, the reflection it offers on a journal entry, and the Ask Ailyn conversation are all generated by Apple's on-device foundation model — the same Apple Intelligence built into your iPhone.

No third-party AI service is involved. Your prompts, your journal entries, your moods and your Health readings are not sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any other model provider, and are not used to train anything. The app has no third-party SDKs of any kind.

The patterns Ailyn shows you in Reflections are calculated in ordinary arithmetic on your phone, not inferred by a model. That is a deliberate design decision: a language model asked to find patterns will find them whether or not they are there, and this app is about your body.

What Ailyn does not do

  • No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting.
  • No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
  • No tracking across apps or websites.
  • No selling or sharing of your data — there is nobody to sell it to, and no copy of it to sell.
  • No third-party software development kits.

Ailyn links out to public health organisations such as the NHS, ACOG and the Cleveland Clinic so you can check where its suggestions come from. Tapping one opens your browser. We send those organisations nothing about you, and they have no relationship with this app.

Deleting everything

Open Profile and choose Delete account and data. It is offered whether or not you ever signed in. After the confirmation, Ailyn permanently removes your sign-in, your cycle, every journal, gratitude, self-care and manifestation entry, and every setting — from the phone and from your iCloud. It cannot be undone, and there is no waiting period.

One thing is deliberately left alone: anything Ailyn previously saved to Apple Health. That lives in your Health app rather than in Ailyn, and deleting your period history from Health because you left this app would take away data you may rely on elsewhere. You can remove it yourself in the Health app whenever you like.

Children

Ailyn is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. Since the app collects nothing from anyone, there is nothing held about a child to delete — but if you have a concern, please get in touch.

Changes to this policy

If Ailyn ever changes what it does with your information, this page will be updated before that version reaches the App Store, and the date below will change with it. If a future version were ever to send anything to a service we run or to a third party, the app would ask your permission first, in plain words, before sending anything.

Getting in touch

Questions about your privacy, or about anything on this page, can go to support.ankita@gmail.com.

@ankie_me

Anything you send by email or by message on X reaches us the ordinary way, and is kept only as long as it takes to answer you. Please do not send health details you would not want in an inbox — nothing about your cycle is needed to answer a question about this app.
